Children Ages 0-9yrs

 

Music Therapy (Ages 0-7)

Music Therapy meets once a month and provides physical and mental stimulation. In this environment, the children along with their parents, sing songs, play simple instruments or clap rhythms. Research supports connections between speech and singing, rhythm and motor behavior as well as overall ability of music to enhance mood, attention and behavior to optimize the student’s ability to learn and interact.

Facilitator: Nicole Patton, Board Certified Music Therapist

Location: DSCBA, Danville

Dates: Saturdays- Jan. 9, Feb. 13, March 5, April 2, May 7, June 4 

Times: Ages 0-3-- 9:00am - 10:30am 

            Ages 4-7-- 10:45am - 12:15pm
 
 
 

Early Connections  (Ages 0-3*

Early Connections offers a friendly and supportive environment for parents and their babies (ages 0-3.)  We will share helpful information that is helpful in understanding and supporting your baby's development.  Some months we will invite guest speakers and focus on a specific topic. This group meets 2 times a month, one Wednesday morning and one Saturday morning.

Facilitator: Nancy Ferguson

Location: DSCBA, Danville

Dates/Times: Wednesdays 10:30am - 12:00pm, Jan. 6, Feb. 3, March 2, April 6, May 4, June 1

Saturday 9:30am-11:00am, Jan23, Feb. 20, March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18 (includes continental breakfast)

 

STEP Programs

We are proud to offer our STEP Program — A therapeutic program that is educational and developmental geared specifically to the needs of children born with Down syndrome. The STEP Program embodies a unique combination of cognitive skills and social/behavioral interaction.

  

Small Steps (Ages 5-8*)

Activities focused on improving motor skills through challenging obstacle courses, cognitive tasks as we learn to follow, interpret and comprehend a story, social interaction as we learn to wait our turn encourage others and adapt to an environment of cooperation, interaction and socialization.

Location: DSCBA, Danville

Day/Time: Mondays 3:30pm - 5:00pm

Session 2- Feb. 22, 29, March 7, 14, 21, 28, 31

Session 3- April 11, 18, 25, May 2, 19, 16
